The flight is already going. Why not you?
Empty legs are private jet flights that would otherwise fly with no one on board. They offer the same aircraft and crew, often well below the usual charter price, for travelers who move with a little flexibility.

Private aviation's quiet opportunity.
Every one-way charter creates a second journey. A jet that carries a family from New York to Palm Beach still has to fly home, or on to its next client, and it usually does so empty.
Operators would rather fill that repositioning flight than absorb the cost of flying it empty. So they offer it, often at a substantial discount, to whoever can travel when and where the aircraft is already headed. That is an empty leg: a scheduled flight looking for a passenger.
It is not a lesser product. You are on the same aircraft, flown by the same crew and operator, to the same standards as the client who paid full fare on the outbound trip.
Exceptional value
Empty legs are commonly priced well below a comparable one-way charter. Discounts of 25% to 75% are typical, depending on route, timing and demand.
Same jet, same crew
The experience is identical to a full charter: private terminal, no queues, your own cabin, and the whole aircraft for your group.
Room for spontaneity
The best deals reward travelers who can say yes to a weekend in Cabo or a Thursday flight to Palm Beach on short notice.

Fly smart: know the fine print
Empty legs are wonderful value with one condition: the schedule belongs to someone else.
Before you book
- Plans can change. If the original charter is rescheduled or cancelled, your empty leg may move or be withdrawn, sometimes at short notice.
- Fixed route and timing. Departure airport, destination and time are set by the aircraft's schedule, with only a small window of flexibility.
- One way by nature. Plan your return separately with another empty leg, a charter or a commercial flight.
- Confirm the operator. Ask who operates the flight. In the U.S., look for an FAA Part 135 certificate.
Ideal for travelers who…
- Can move a departure by a day, or fly on a weekday
- Are traveling one way, or have a flexible return
- Want the private experience at a sharper price
- Keep a backup plan for trips that simply cannot slip

Questions, answered
What is an empty leg flight?
An empty leg, also called a deadhead or repositioning flight, is a private jet flight that would otherwise fly without passengers, usually after dropping off a one-way charter client or on its way to pick one up. Operators often sell these flights at a reduced price rather than fly them empty.
How much can I save on an empty leg?
Savings vary by route, aircraft, timing and demand. Empty legs are commonly priced well below a comparable one-way charter, often somewhere in the range of 25% to 75% less. The final price is always confirmed by the operator at booking.
Can an empty leg be cancelled?
Yes. An empty leg depends on the original paying charter. If that trip is rescheduled or cancelled, the empty leg can move or disappear, sometimes at short notice. For trips you cannot miss, keep a backup plan or book a dedicated charter.
Do I get the whole aircraft?
Typically, yes. Empty legs are usually priced for the entire aircraft, so you can bring your own group up to the seat limit. Some providers also sell individual seats on certain routes.
Who operates empty leg flights?
In the U.S., charter flights, including empty legs, should be operated by carriers holding an FAA Part 135 certificate. LiquidAir does not operate aircraft. Our partners arrange flights with certificated operators, and you can always ask who the operating carrier is before you book.
